Out of their passion for education, Dr. Charles J. Briscoe, pastor of Paseo Baptist Church and Erma Williams, an educator and member of the church came up with the concept of starting a Day Care at Paseo Baptist Church.

Although they were met with strong opposition from some within the church, Pastor Briscoe who knew the importance of providing quality education convinced the congregation that the community needed a place where children could receive biblical teaching and an excellent education.

He knew Erma Williams was the person that could form the Day Care on a Christ-center foundation. Erma welcomed the opportunity to make her church the center of her working life and unite her love of Jesus Christ with her love of children.

Over the past forty years, the Erma L. Williams Center has served up to 100 children annually, rigorously educating them while also ministering to and counseling their parents. The Learning Center is a model for early learning that builds faith in God, knowledge, resilience, pride, and confidence in the children it serves.
